Vampire Survivors Update Introduces New Engine & Local Co-Op

The team is working on a large feature and a lot of new content.

Vampire Survivors is full of unlocks and ever-evolving content, and its developers keep adding more regularly. The latest 1.6 update, for example, brings a new engine and a local co-op mode to the game allowing you to play in a team of four players.

All you need is one controller for every player, and you're ready to complete missions and collect achievements together with friends. Poncle is also looking into online multiplayer options, but it might take a while, so the developer recommends using solutions like Steam Remote Play to play online.

You can now enjoy Vampire Survivors on Nintendo Switch as well. All the updates and DLC are already available there. Unfortunately, there is no cross-saving function yet, but Poncle is on it.

As for the Steam version, it moved to a new engine. You can still use the old one in a private beta branch if you want to for some reason, but it won't be updated.

The team is busy with multiple aspects of the game, and one of them is Adventures – "a large feature that has been taking shape since December 2022 and that will add a lot of gameplay options and possibilities." The developers didn't elaborate but promised to talk more about this free content in the upcoming weeks.

Poncle also mentioned the "Directer's Cut" footage, saying the new content shown there is scheduled to be released in future free updates.

Meanwhile, there is plenty for Vampire Survivors fans to look forward to, like an animated series, in the works inside Story Kitchen. What we probably won't get is a sequel to the game: the creator Luca Galante doesn't see the point because new content and mechanics can be added to the existing game.
