Xsolla KL Hosts Unreal Engine Meetup

The event shined a spotlight on game development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Xsolla, in collaboration with Mohan from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Circle Studio,  Ammobox Studios, and Epic Games, hosted Unreal Engine Meetup at Xsolla KL. The event brought together passionate developers, industry experts, and gaming enthusiasts for a day filled with inspiring keynotes, invaluable networking opportunities, and exciting announcements.

Attendees discussed what's new in version 5.3 of Unreal Engine, talked about the making of Zombie Soup, and exchanged thoughts on creating experiences in UEFN.

Among other things, there was a presentation about the recently released game Zombie Soup by AeonSparx which served as an example of a successful indie game. During the event, developers received insights and useful notes for their future projects.

The team says the highlight of the event was the networking session, where more than 30 different companies and over 100 attendees gathered to explore potential partnerships and collaborations.

During the Unreal Engine Meetup, Xsolla and Curine discussed their initiative to expand by introducing the Xsolla Curine Center of Excellence. This initiative offers three distinct options for aspiring game developers.

First, there's a specialized one-year program in the Game Development Academy designed by Xsolla's team of experienced professionals. The program aims to close the skill gap by preparing students for employability and life in the industry. With Xsolla's experience in the gaming industry, the company will bring in top teaching talent and develop the curriculum for the students.

The Game Incubator will provide mentorship for every aspect of game development, focusing on the importance of business and marketing skills. Participants will be guided in developing and applying these skills to their games, preparing them for the Accelerator program.

Additionally, students will be granted access to the Accelerator program, which is dedicated to indigenous studios and talents aiming to establish a successful business with the support of bridge funds and mentorship.

"The gaming community is at the heart of everything we do! Our mission is to empower game developers to do their best work. The Unreal Engine Meetup is just one of the many community meetups we aim to support, fostering cross-learning between studios and developers," said Xsolla KL Managing Director Narishvin Sukumaran.
