This Impressive Cloth Simulation Was Made With Houdini's Vellum

Emīls Geršinskis-Ješinskis unveiled a new exciting project and shared the project file behind it.

3D and VFX Artist Emīls Geršinskis-Ješinskis impresses us for the second week in a row with an incredible new simulation powered by SideFX's flagship procedural 3D software, Houdini.

This week, the creator experimented with the application's Vellum, a simulation framework that uses an extended Position Based Dynamics approach to enable the simulation of cloth, hair, soft bodies, balloons, and grains, using it with the Pin Constraint node to set up an incredibly lifelike cloth sim that can deform in a manner similar to real-life plastic wrap. Furthermore, the artist shared the project file behind the simulation, allowing you to recreate the appealing result seen in the demo above for just €1.

Previously, Emīls wowed us with his mind-blowing custom setup that uses Houdini and Fabricio Chamon's Vision and Machine Learning data streamer to analyze video footage, detect the number of fingers being held up, and display the result using particles in Houdini:

Also, check out some of Emīls' earlier works, we highly encourage you to visit the creator's LinkedIn page, YouTube channel, and official website to see more awesome projects:

And here are some great tutorials that will help you learn more about Houdini's Vellum:
