Sequel to Open-World RPG Pathologic Is Announced with New Trailer

Pathologic 3 will feature new time-travel mechanics and is scheduled for 2025.

The sequel to open-world horror RPG Pathologic 2 has been announced recently with a new trailer.

Similar to the previous installment, the upcoming sequel will task players to save a town from a mysterious plague. Pathologic 3 follows the story of a young doctor from the capital who searches for the secret of immortality and finds himself in a remote town affected by the disease. As in the previous games, the doctor only has 12 days to save the town. He has to explore the town itself, its past, present, and future. Everything he sees can be a clue and tells its story.

He examines patients, cross-checks symptoms, prescribes treatments, imposes quarantines and curfews, and deploys patrols. "See how your choices change the town, even if it means being hated along the way," reads the game's description.

The sequel's new feature is time travel. The time to save the town is limited, but it is also a valuable and mysterious resource – you can witness the possible outcomes in the future and correct mistakes in the past. Developer Nikolay Dybowski, the founder of Ice-Pick Lodge, describes the concept of that mechanic as "surrealist time management." "Our goal is to give the player a sense that time is more complex than we typically perceive it – as a linear path," he added.
